when i'm not shooting or editing...

I'll skip the fluff: here's what you should know about me–

  • My name is Hannah, but my friends call me Bean. My pronouns are she/her. I'm a Cancer, born in '97.
  • I have lived in Western WA my entire life, and though I love to travel, I have no plans to ever move away.
  • I proudly identify as queer, even though I grew up in a very conservative, homophobic, Christian bubble.
  • My wife and I got married in the summer of 2022 and have been together since the summer of 2018. We both attended Western Washington University, both on athletic scholarships– Emma played softball and I was a cheerleader. Our first kiss was at a Pride festival and we've been inseparable ever since.
  • I have a BA in Creative Writing in English, and I love to write poetry. Photography, to me, is just visual storytelling. It is poetry without words. It is magic.
  • I am a 2nd generation Longshoreman and proud member of the ILWU, the greatest union in the world.
  • I have ADHD and was diagnosed only a few years ago. My neurodivergent brain is the cornerstone of my many creative tendencies. I once saw my diagnosis as a roadblock, but I now use it to push my creative boundaries and continually challenge the artist in me.
  • I'm a cat momma to our sweet, perfect fur babies– Georgie & Gus (more commonly referred to as "Big Cat" and "Peanut").
  • I'm a die-hard Swiftie and a hardcore bass head... I'm attending the Era's Tour and Bass Canyon in the same summer.
  • My dream is to photograph an intimate wedding in España, my favorite country in the world.
  • I believe there is so much more to life than going to work and paying your bills. I believe in the importance of enjoying life while you have it.
  • And lastly, nothing makes my heart happier than making people laugh. Our session will be like an improv comedy show performed by your favorite hype-woman.

"DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS?!"

"YUP!!!!"

Describing the relationships I form with my clients feels a lot like that one Step Brothers scene...

As a natural creative, I've been drawn to quite literally every art form that exists at some point in my life. But being neurodivergent, I tend to lose interest in pursuing those hobbies almost as soon as I master them.

I truly believe I'll be an artist as long as I live, but it wasn't until I pursued photography that I finally found something that I will never truly "master". I'll only continue to grow and expand and learn and explore. Photography is my very own never-ending adventure.

This, of course, is encouraged by my admiration of the craft, but more than that,  it's my clients who fuel this pursuit. With them, I'm continually encouraged, inspired, and ever-evolving.

I love this art because of them.

I love this art because of you.

my shooting + editing style

I would describe my photography style as bold, colorful, moody, warm and documentary. I love capturing movement in my images and always keep my intentions set on evoking genuine emotion from my clients. as my client, you will never be posed in a way that feels unnatural to you or who you are.

I'm a very laid-back shooter, giving prompts that draw out laughter, comfort and joy with ease. nothing is "forced" with me– and because of this, i whole-heartedly believe that everyone i photograph is photogenic, even if they come into their session thinking the opposite.

when i'm not wearing my photographer hat...
